About Martin Oliva
From an early age, Martin Oliva knew that the art of jewellery making was his destiny. After becoming a Goldsmith Master, he started to build up his craftsman skills at the London jewellery centre: Hatton Garden.
After 8 years, he established a workshop providing services for Selfridges, Liberty and various shops in Bond Street. In 2010 he received the Gold Award in World Skills UK for a Fine Jewellery Making Competition. In the same year he moved to South Woodford, and in his new location he opened the shop where he continues today.
Martin strives for perfection. Each piece he creates is made from start to finish and his attention to detail and finish reaches the highest standard. Simultaneously, every item is predetermined from a technical standpoint.
His jewellery is bespoke and follows a set procedure: drawing, rendering, fabrication and the final polish. He works with both traditional and innovative methods.
Martin Oliva Jewellery makes you pause and think.
Who is a Master Jeweller?
Do you happen to know what the difference is between a Jeweller and a Master Jeweller?
Martin Oliva Studio was created not by a Businessman but a Master Jeweller himself, based on a pure passion for beautiful handcrafted pieces of jewellry.
The term Master Jeweller comes from the time of Trade Guilds. Once you become an apprentice, after a few years, you take a qualifying exam administered by the Guild. If you are fully skilled in drawing, designing, hand building, soldering, wax carving, engraving and diamond and gem setting you are fully qualified Master Jeweller. Such experts can work in all precious metals like gold, platinum and silver. Bear in mind there is a broad range of proficiency from novice to expert.
Our jewellery is therefore technically and aesthetically created by an expert who offers the highest standard in the trade. Martin Oliva can guide you through bespoke jewllery design and you can rest assured the piece will not only be timeless and one of a kind but also will last generations.
Master Jeweller like Martin can restore your vintage family jewels and help you reinvent them so you and your loved ones can enjoy the beauty of this fine craft for many, many years.
