Place Vendôme Servicing for Your Chaumet
Chaumet sits where horology meets the Place Vendôme jewellery tradition, and a service that respects only one side of that work leaves the piece poorer for it. Our London workshop combines Master Jeweller setting expertise with calibre overhaul on every Bee My Love, Liens, Joséphine and Dandy reference, and signs off each piece with a written 12-month guarantee.
Chaumet's two and a half centuries on the Place Vendôme have produced a watchmaking tradition more closely allied to jewellery than to industrial horology. Settings of diamonds, sapphires and the maison's signature "Plumes" and "Bee My Love" motifs surround quartz and small mechanical movements that require sensitive handling, a misstep on a prong setting or a polished lug can compromise both the movement and the piece's value as jewellery.
A Bee My Love quartz with pavé bezel, a Joséphine Aigrette Impériale and an early 2000s Class One automatic each receive the same dual attention at our bench, stone setting and prong tension inspected by our setter, calibre logged and stripped by our watchmaker, then re-oiled, regulated and certified before the piece is returned.
Every Chaumet service includes the following:
A complete Chaumet service at Martin Oliva is a calibre and case restoration with jewellery-grade attention, not a cosmetic refresh. Every timepiece moves through ten dedicated workshop stages before sign-off.
Pre-Service Diagnostic & Stone Check
Stone integrity, case pressure and movement rate are inspected and logged on intake, every gem setting (diamond, sapphire, emerald) is examined under loupe, and the movement is read on the timegrapher as the baseline.
Calibre Strip to Component Level
Quartz electronics or mechanical components, bridges, balance assembly, gear train, come apart in tracked sequence and each part is identified through the cleaning and reassembly stages.
Jewel Setting Inspection
Every pavé and individual gem setting on the bezel, lugs and bracelet is checked for prong tension and stone security, re-tipped only on owner approval.
Multi-Stage Component Cleaning
Material-specific cleaning protocols are followed for steel, gold and gemstones, set stones receive ultrasonic treatment only where their cut and security allow, with hand cleaning used elsewhere.
Manufacturer-Specified Re-Oiling
Lubrication on mechanical references follows the Chaumet oiling chart precisely, the correct grade and volume reach every pivot, jewel and contact surface under microscope by hand.
Case & Bracelet Hand-Refinishing
Hand-restoration brings polished surfaces of Chaumet cases and bracelets back to factory condition, bezel profiles and lug edges are masked from polishing motion so jewellery-grade geometry stays intact.
Crown, Tube & Gasket Sealing
Standard service includes complete gasket renewal, crown seal, tube washer and caseback ring are all replaced before the case is resealed and certified.
Depth & Air Pressure Certification
Water-resistance certification follows the original Chaumet specification, dry-air and wet pressure cycles run in sequence, and the results are entered into the service file before dispatch.
Five-Day Position Rate Trial
Mechanical Chaumets run a five-day, five-position rate trial to verify stable timekeeping and consistent amplitude; quartz references are calibrated to ±0.5 sec/day before sign-off.
Twelve-Month Written Guarantee
Service work is backed by a written 12-month guarantee from Martin Oliva, the document covers our bench work and any components fitted by our watchmakers and setters during the service.
Chaumet Service Prices including VAT
All figures include VAT and the complete ten-stage protocol. "Modern" applies to references in current or recent production; "Vintage" covers earlier and discontinued references.
All prices include VAT and the 12-month written guarantee. Stone replacement, prong re-tipping, sapphire crystal replacement and bracelet refinishing are quoted separately after the workshop inspection.
The Service Journey
Four clear stages take your timepiece from the first enquiry to its return in fully serviced condition.
Get In Touch
Tell us the reference, the metal (steel, gold, two-tone), whether any stones look loose and any change in timekeeping you have observed. An indicative figure comes back within one working day.
Joint Inspection
Our setter checks every gem prong and bezel setting; our watchmaker logs the movement on the timegrapher. A combined diagnostic report and firm quotation is then issued.
Service
The ten-stage protocol runs three to four weeks for plain quartz and automatic references; pavé and snow-set pieces with setting work typically take five to six.
Return
Your Chaumet is presented in protective storage with its diagnostic file, the setting inspection record, the certification of regulation and the 12-month written guarantee.

Chaumet Service FAQs
How often does a Chaumet watch need to be serviced?
Quartz Chaumets typically need a battery change every two to three years and a full service every six to eight years. Mechanical Chaumets follow a five-year full-service interval. Any watch with gem settings should be inspected during every service for prong tension and stone security.
Can you re-tip prongs and re-set stones on a Chaumet?
Yes, as a London Master Jeweller our setter works alongside our watchmakers. Prongs can be re-tipped and missing stones replaced with sized and colour-matched gems. This work is quoted separately following the inspection.
Do you service the small ladies' calibres found in Chaumet?
Yes, many Chaumet references use small ETA, ronda or in-house quartz movements typical of jewellery brands. All these calibres are part of our regular workflow.
Will independent servicing affect my Chaumet warranty?
While a watch remains within Chaumet's own international warranty, manufacturer servicing is generally advisable to preserve the original guarantee. For timepieces outside that warranty, an independent service from Martin Oliva uses correct parts and is fully covered by our own 12-month written guarantee.
Can you handle high jewellery and pavé-set Chaumet pieces?
Yes, high jewellery pieces are quoted following inspection and worked on by our most experienced bench. Pavé and snow-set surfaces require particular care during cleaning and case opening, and we handle them under enhanced security protocol.
Can clients outside the United Kingdom send a watch to your workshop?
Absolutely. We regularly receive timepieces from clients across mainland Europe, the Gulf, North America and Asia. Contact us in advance and we will guide you through insured tracked shipping, declared values and customs documentation.
