From an early age, Martin Oliva knew that the art of jewellery making was his destiny. Fascinated by fine details and the ability to transform raw materials into something timeless, he dedicated himself to mastering this ancient craft. After becoming a Goldsmith Master, he began refining his skills in Hatton Garden, London’s world-renowned jewellery district. There, surrounded by some of the most talented craftsmen in the trade, Martin honed his precision, creativity, and technical expertise, quickly gaining a reputation for his meticulous work and artistic vision.
After eight years of working in the heart of London’s jewellery scene, Martin established his own workshop, providing specialist services for prestigious names such as Selfridges, Liberty, and several esteemed Bond Street boutiques. His commitment to excellence soon earned him recognition, and In 2010 he received the Gold Award in World Skills UK for a Fine Jewellery Making Competition. That same year marked a new chapter when he moved to South Woodford, opening his very own studio and shop, where he continues to craft exquisite jewellery pieces to this day.
Martin’s philosophy has always been rooted in striving for perfection. Each creation is carefully designed and handmade from start to finish, ensuring that no detail is overlooked. His approach is both artistic and technical - every piece is not only aesthetically stunning but also structurally precise, designed to stand the test of time.
He follows a refined procedure for bespoke commissions: from the first sketch and hand-rendered drawings to fabrication, gemstone setting, and the final polish. Combining traditional and innovative techniques, Martin ensures that each piece reflects both heritage and modern artistry.

Who is a Master Jeweller?

Martin Oliva Studio was created not by a Businessman but a Master Jeweller himself, based on a pure passion for beautiful handcrafted pieces of jewellry.
The term Master Jeweller comes from the time of Trade Guilds. Once you become an apprentice, after a few years, you take a qualifying exam administered by the Guild. If you are fully skilled in drawing, designing, hand building, soldering, wax carving, engraving and diamond and gem setting, you are a fully qualified Master Jeweller.
Such experts are capable of working with all precious metals, including gold, platinum, and silver, and their knowledge extends across both artistry and engineering. Within the trade, the skill level of a Master Jeweller is considered the highest standard - an achievement reserved for those who embody dedication, expertise, and exceptional craft.
