Copenhagen-Sensitive Servicing for Your Georg Jensen
Georg Jensen's 1904 Copenhagen design house defines its watches as much by sculpture as by mechanism. The Vivianna bangle, the Henning Koppel cushion case and the Reflect mirror dial all carry value as objects before they are read as time-tellers, and our London workshop treats them as one. Full calibre service, sterling silver handling and a written 12-month guarantee on every piece.
Georg Jensen's century-old Copenhagen design house has produced watches whose value lies as much in their sculpture as in their movements. The Vivianna Torun bangle, the Henning Koppel cushion-case curved-dial, the Reflect mirror-dial and the Polaris all combine sterling silver or steel cases with quartz or small mechanical calibres, and each demands handling that respects both the metal and the movement.
A 1969 Vivianna inherited from a parent and a contemporary Koppel quartz each receive the same attention at our bench, the case is examined for tarnish and surface condition before any disassembly, the movement is stripped, cleaned and re-oiled to manufacturer specification, and the watch is calibrated to within ±0.5 sec/day on quartz and chronometer-grade on mechanical before sign-off.
Every Georg Jensen service includes the following:
A complete Georg Jensen service at Martin Oliva is a calibre and case restoration with respect for the maison's design language, not a cosmetic refresh. Every timepiece moves through ten dedicated workshop stages.
Pre-Service Diagnostic Trace
Case condition, dial and hands are photographed under magnification before any work begins, and the movement is logged on the timegrapher with case-pressure results entered into the service file as a baseline.
Movement Strip to Component Level
Disassembly is sequenced, quartz electronics on one reference, mechanical bridges/balance/gear train on another, with every component identified through the cleaning and reassembly stages.
Sterling Silver Case Assessment
On Vivianna, Koppel and other sterling silver references, the case is inspected for tarnish and pitting; polishing approach is decided in line with owner preference.
Multi-Stage Component Cleaning
Metal-specific cleaning protocols handle steel and sterling silver separately, sterling silver receives ammonia-free treatment to avoid darkening, and movement jewels and pivots are cleaned individually.
Manufacturer-Specified Re-Oiling
Oils for the ETA, Ronda and Soprod calibres found in Georg Jensen references are applied to each calibre's service sheet specification, under microscope, by hand, with no substitution of grades.
Case & Bracelet Hand-Refinishing
Hand-restoration brings sterling silver and steel cases back without rounding the design lines, Torun and Koppel silhouettes were drawn to a precise geometry, and we preserve it through every polishing motion.
Crown, Tube & Gasket Sealing
Gasket replacement is part of every service, crown seal, tube washer and caseback ring are all renewed as a matter of course rather than waited on until they fail.
Water Resistance Verification
Water resistance is verified against the original Georg Jensen specification through dry-air and wet pressure testing, both results are entered into the service file before the watch is dispatched.
Five-Day Position Rate Trial
Mechanical Georg Jensens are observed across five positions over a five-day trial; quartz references are calibrated to ±0.5 sec/day accuracy on the timegrapher before sign-off.
Twelve-Month Written Guarantee
Every Georg Jensen we sign off carries a 12-month written guarantee from Martin Oliva, the document covers bench work and any components our watchmakers fitted during the service.

Message Us
Send us the model name (Vivianna, Koppel, Reflect and so on), whether the case is sterling silver or steel, and what you have noticed. An indicative figure comes back within one working day.
Bench Check
The watch is logged on the timegrapher and the case is inspected by our jeweller for tarnish, surface condition and structural integrity. A written diagnostic and firm quotation follows.
Workshop
The ten-stage protocol typically takes three to four weeks for quartz Vivianna and Koppel references; sterling silver case work and automatic movements may take longer.
Hand Over
Your Georg Jensen comes back with its diagnostic record, the certification of regulation, the case-condition report and the 12-month written guarantee.

Georg Jensen Service FAQs
How often does a Georg Jensen watch need to be serviced?
Quartz references typically need a battery change every two to three years and a full service every six to eight years. Mechanical references follow a five-year full-service interval. Sterling silver cases should be inspected during every service for tarnish and surface condition.
Can you handle the de-tarnishing of sterling silver cases?
Yes, as a London Master Jeweller, we are fully equipped to de-tarnish sterling silver cases without softening the design lines or affecting hallmarks. Surface re-polishing is performed only on owner approval and is quoted separately.
What movement does my Vivianna or Koppel use?
Most modern Vivianna and Koppel references use Swiss ETA, Ronda or Soprod quartz and small automatic movements typical of design-led watch brands. All these calibres are part of our regular workflow and components are readily available.
Will independent servicing affect my Georg Jensen warranty?
While a watch remains within Georg Jensen's own international warranty, manufacturer servicing is generally advisable to preserve the original guarantee. For timepieces outside that warranty, an independent service from Martin Oliva uses correct parts and is fully covered by our own 12-month written guarantee.
Do you service vintage 1969-era Vivianna pieces?
Yes, original Vivianna Torun bangles from 1969 through the mid-1980s are serviced regularly at our bench. The original Swiss quartz modules and the sterling silver bangle hinge are both fully serviceable, with component sourcing through our trusted suppliers.
Can clients outside the United Kingdom send a watch to your workshop?
Absolutely. We regularly receive timepieces from clients across mainland Europe, Scandinavia, the Gulf, North America and Asia. Contact us in advance and we will guide you through insured tracked shipping, declared values and customs documentation.
