Hermès Watch Repair & Service in London
Return your Hermès to its original silhouette and rate at our London workshop — shaped-case refinishing, Vaucher-connected calibre overhaul, signature leather strap renewal and a written 12-month guarantee on every timepiece we sign off.
Hermès has been in serious watchmaking longer than its sister-luxury reputation often suggests. La Montre Hermès was founded in Bienne in 1978, and in 2006 the house took a 25 percent stake in Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier, the high-end movement maker that supplies several leading complication brands. That partnership is why every Hermès Manufacture calibre — the H1837 automatic, the H1912 small-format automatic, the ultra-thin H1950 micro-rotor — is engineered to the standard of a serious horological maison rather than a fashion accessory.
Whether you wear a vintage Cape Cod with a Jaeger-LeCoultre-derived ébauche or a recent Hermès Cut driven by the calibre H1925, our London bench treats each reference with a protocol matched to its calibre and case shape. Every Hermès is overhauled, regulated and pressure-certified in-house, with one 12-month written guarantee covering the work — and our team are equally comfortable handling the leather straps that are central to the Hermès identity.
Beyond Hermès, our London workshop also looks after other prestigious houses — see our dedicated Cartier repair and restoration and Graham repair and service pages for brand-specific protocols handled at the same bench.
Every Hermès service includes the following:
A complete Hermès service at Martin Oliva is a full calibre and case revision, not a cosmetic refresh. Each watch progresses through ten dedicated workshop stages before it is signed off and released back to its owner.
Reference & Calibre Identification
Caseback markings, serial and calibre number are cross-referenced against La Montre Hermès records — confirming whether the watch carries a Hermès Manufacture calibre, a Vaucher base or a historical Jaeger-LeCoultre/Universal Genève movement.
Baseline Bench Capture
Initial timegrapher readings, pressure-test values and crown function are logged so the final regulation can be evaluated against a documented starting point rather than a generic benchmark.
Movement Strip & Component Indexing
Bridges, balance, gear train and mainspring barrel are separated and laid into an indexed tray so each component is tracked individually through cleaning and reassembly.
Stepped Solvent Cleaning
Components pass through a graduated solvent ladder matched to their alloys, with separate cycles for the escapement, balance and barrel internals to prevent any cross-contamination.
Manufacture-Spec Re-Oiling
Pivots, jewels and contact surfaces receive the precise grade and volume of oil or grease specified for the calibre, applied under microscope to the tolerances Vaucher and La Montre Hermès set for the movement.
Shaped-Case Hand Refinishing
Rectangular Cape Cod, square Heure H, stirrup-lugged Arceau and round Hermès Cut cases are restored by hand so that brushed flanks and polished bevels return to their original geometry without softening the lyrical lines that define each model.
Crown, Tube & Gasket Renewal
The crown, tube, caseback gasket and (where present) pusher seals are renewed as a matter of course before resealing — a standard step rather than an optional extra.
Leather Strap Inspection & Renewal
The signature Hermès strap — Barenia calfskin, alligator Mississippiensis or Swift leather — is inspected for wear and renewed with a replacement of matching grade and stitch pattern when requested.
Water-Resistance Recertification
The resealed case is verified against the reference's original water-resistance rating using dry-air and wet pressure cycles, with each result logged in your service file.
Four-Day Bench Verification
The serviced movement is observed across five positions over four days, with rate, amplitude and beat error required to settle within chronometer tolerance before the watch is signed off and returned.
Hermès Service Prices including VAT
All figures below include VAT and cover the complete ten-stage protocol. "Modern" refers to references in current or recent production; "Vintage" applies to discontinued calibres and earlier Carrick, Cape Cod and Clipper references that frequently use Jaeger-LeCoultre, Universal Genève or Movado-derived ébauches.
All prices include VAT and the 12-month written guarantee. Leather strap replacement, sapphire crystal renewal, dial conservation and any complication-specific restoration are quoted separately following the workshop inspection.
The Service Pathway
Four straightforward stages carry your Hermès from the first enquiry to its return on your wrist.
Engage
Send us your reference number with any notes on rate, water-resistance, crown function or leather strap condition. We respond with an indicative price and arrange insured courier collection or a private appointment.
Survey
A senior watchmaker examines the watch under controlled conditions, identifies the calibre and case material, and issues a written diagnostic and quotation shared with you ahead of any decision.
Refresh
Once approved, your Hermès enters the ten-stage protocol in our protected workshop. Typical turnaround sits between four and seven weeks, with vintage shaped cases and complications taking longer.
Reunite
After certification, your watch is presented in protective storage with its service certificate, pressure-test results and 12-month written guarantee, delivered by insured courier or collected in person.

Vaucher Training
Our watchmakers are trained on the Hermès Manufacture calibres developed with Vaucher Fleurier — the H1837 automatic, the smaller H1912 and the ultra-thin H1950 micro-rotor — alongside the in-house GPHG-winning Le Temps Suspendu module.
Atelier Restoration
Rectangular Cape Cod, stirrup-lugged Arceau, cushion Nantucket and square Heure H cases all require techniques outside the standard round-watch workflow — and our bench routinely services 1980s and 1990s Hermès with Jaeger-LeCoultre, Universal Genève and Movado base movements.
Private Handling
Every Hermès received at our workshop is registered against its full open-market valuation on intake, photographed at each stage and returned by tracked insured courier or by private appointment.
Hermès Models We Service
From the latest Hermès Cut and Arceau Le Temps Voyageur references back through the 1980s Clipper and vintage Carrick, our London bench is equipped to service every Hermès family.
Hermès Service FAQs
How often should a Hermès watch be serviced?
Mechanical Hermès references — including all H1837, H1912 and H1950 calibres — generally benefit from a full service every four to five years, while quartz pieces typically need a battery change and pressure check every two to three years and a full service every six to eight. Daily-worn watches, references with the Le Temps Suspendu or Le Temps Voyageur complication and any piece showing rate drift or moisture under the crystal should be inspected sooner.
Do you service Hermès quartz watches as well as mechanical?
Yes — quartz Heure H, Cape Cod, Kelly, Faubourg and Clipper references arrive at the workshop regularly. We strip, clean and re-grease the movement, fit a fresh battery, renew the gasket set and pressure-test the case under the same workshop protocol used for our mechanical service, at the appropriate price tier.
Can my Hermès leather strap be replaced or restored?
Yes. We stock replacement straps in Barenia calfskin, Swift leather and alligator Mississippiensis cut to match the standard Hermès dimensions, with matching stitch patterns. Where the existing strap is structurally sound but cosmetically tired, we will discuss restoration options before any work proceeds. Strap renewal is quoted separately from the service price and confirmed in writing.
Vintage Hermès watches use Jaeger-LeCoultre or Universal Genève movements — can your workshop handle them?
Yes — this is one of the areas where independent service has a real advantage over the manufacturer. Many 1970s, 1980s and early-1990s Hermès references rely on JLC, Universal Genève, Movado or Lemania ébauches, and our senior bench services these calibres regularly. Period-correct component sourcing is part of our standard vintage workflow.
How long does a Hermès service take?
A standard quartz or 3-hand mechanical service is typically completed within four to six weeks. Manufacture calibres, GMT references and chronographs usually require six to nine weeks, and complications such as the Le Temps Suspendu and Slim Perpetual are quoted on a piece-by-piece basis once the diagnostic inspection has been signed off.
Can I send my Hermès from outside the United Kingdom?
Of course. We routinely receive Hermès watches from clients across the UK, mainland Europe, the Gulf, North America and Asia. Contact us before shipping and we will guide you through insured tracked couriers, declared values, and the documentation required for a round trip to your country of residence.
