Vallée de Joux Servicing for Your Jaeger-LeCoultre
Few watchmakers carry the catalogue depth of Jaeger-LeCoultre, 1,200 calibres developed in Le Sentier since 1833, and few benches in London approach them with the discipline they deserve. From Reverso pivoting cradles to Atmos torsion pendulums, every JLC reference at our workshop receives a full overhaul, manufacturer-grade re-oiling and a written 12-month guarantee on completion.
Jaeger-LeCoultre's reputation as the watchmaker to the watchmakers is built on more than 1,200 calibres developed in Le Sentier since 1833, and on the discipline required to service them. The Reverso's swivelling cradle, the Master Ultra Thin's calibre 849 hand-wound, the Polaris Memovox alarm and the Atmos clock's near-perpetual motion all reward correct technique and punish improvisation.
A 1931 Reverso passed through three generations and a contemporary Master Control Date on the calibre 899 both pass through the same protected workflow at our bench. Diagnosis is logged on the timegrapher, the calibre is stripped to component level, lubrication is applied to manufacturer specification, the watch is monitored across positions over a seven-day trial, and certification is issued before any piece leaves the workshop.
Every Jaeger-LeCoultre service includes the following:
A complete Jaeger-LeCoultre service at Martin Oliva is a calibre and case restoration, not a cosmetic refresh. Every timepiece moves through ten dedicated workshop stages before sign-off.
Pre-Service Diagnostic Trace
Before any disassembly, the calibre is logged on the timegrapher and the case is pressure-tested, those four baseline numbers (rate, amplitude, beat error, gasket integrity) become the reference for everything that follows.
Calibre Strip to Component Level
Each component is laid into a tracked tray as the calibre comes apart, bridges, escapement, balance, mainspring barrel and gear train are kept individually identified through cleaning and reassembly under microscope.
Reverso Cradle & Pivot Inspection
On Reverso references, the swivelling cradle, axis pivots and locking mechanism are inspected for play and refreshed as part of the service, protecting the case from long-term wear.
Multi-Stage Component Cleaning
Calibre components are routed through alloy-matched ultrasonic stages, steel and brass kept apart, gold-plated parts treated individually, jewels and pivots given dedicated attention before reassembly.
Manufacturer-Specified Re-Oiling
Oil grade, jewel placement and dosage volume follow each Jaeger-LeCoultre calibre's service sheet to the letter, applied under microscope to every pivot, jewel and friction point.
Case & Bracelet Hand-Refinishing
Hand-refinishing returns Master Ultra Thin and Reverso silhouettes to their factory geometry, brushed planes refreshed with the grain, polished bevels masked from the surrounding surface so the case profile stays sharp.
Crown, Tube & Caseback Sealing
Gasket renewal is standard across the case, crown seal, tube washer, caseback ring and any pusher seals on chronograph references are all replaced rather than waited on until they fail.
Depth & Air Pressure Certification
Water-resistance certification follows the reference's original specification, dry-air and wet pressure cycles are completed in turn, and both results are entered into the service file before sign-off.
Seven-Day Position Rate Trial
Over a seven-day trial, the calibre is held in six positions and read by the timegrapher in each, variation in rate, amplitude and beat error has to settle within JLC tolerance before the watch is closed.
Twelve-Month Written Guarantee
All workmanship and any fitted components are covered by a 12-month written guarantee from Martin Oliva, the document accompanies the watch and its service file when it returns to you.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Service Prices including VAT

The Service Journey
Four clear stages take your timepiece from the first enquiry to its return in fully serviced condition.
Get In Touch
Tell us the reference, calibre and anything you have noticed, rate drift, alarm function on a Memovox, cradle stiffness on a Reverso. We reply with an indicative price and arrange courier or appointment.
Diagnose
Our senior watchmaker examines the calibre, case, dial and (on Reverso references) the pivoting cradle. A written diagnostic is produced before any quotation is finalised.
Restore
The ten-stage protocol takes between five and ten weeks for time-only and 3/4-hand references; Memovox, perpetual calendar and Duomètre work runs longer.
Hand Over
Your serviced JLC is presented with its diagnostic record, certification file and the 12-month written guarantee, by insured courier or in person at our studio.

Authentic Sourcing
Any component fitted during your service is acquired through trusted horological channels and matched to the exact reference and production year of your watch to safeguard its long-term integrity.

Every Jaeger-LeCoultre is registered on arrival under its full market valuation, photographed through each stage of the sequence and managed inside a private workshop ledger until it is returned to its owner.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Service FAQs
How often does a Jaeger-LeCoultre need to be serviced?
JLC's general guidance is a full service every four to five years for daily-worn mechanical references. Reverso swivelling cradles, Memovox alarm mechanisms and complications should be inspected sooner if any change in behaviour is noticed, a short assessment at our bench will determine whether intervention is needed now.
Can you service the Reverso's pivoting case mechanism?
Yes, the swivelling cradle, axis pivots and the spring-loaded locking system are part of every Reverso service. We inspect for play and lateral wear, refresh the lubrication at the pivot points and verify the case locks securely on both faces before return.
Do you service the Atmos clock?
Yes, the Atmos is one of the more specialised pieces we work on. We strip and clean the calibre 540 / 562 movement, inspect the bellows for leaks, recondition the torsion spring suspension and re-regulate the clock to keep correct time over its near-perpetual cycle. Pricing is quoted following inspection.
Will independent servicing affect my Jaeger-LeCoultre warranty?
While a watch remains within JLC's own international warranty, manufacturer servicing is generally advisable to preserve the original guarantee. For timepieces outside that warranty, an independent service from Martin Oliva uses correct parts and follows the calibre's service sheet, and is fully covered by our own 12-month written guarantee.
Do you service vintage and complicated JLC references?
Yes, our senior bench works on calibres including the K911 Futurematic, K825 Memovox, 489 / 825 hand-wound Reverso and the modern 899 automatic. Vintage and complicated work is priced under the Vintage column and may take additional time due to component sourcing.
Can clients outside the United Kingdom send a watch to your workshop?
Absolutely. We regularly receive timepieces from clients across mainland Europe, the Gulf, North America and Asia. Contact us in advance and we will guide you through insured tracked shipping, declared values and the customs documentation required.
